PUBLIC NOTICE City of Linden Hydrant Flushing May 6 – 11, 2024 The City of Linden Department of Public Works will be flushing water hydrants between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., beginning Monday, May 6, 2024 and continuing through Saturday, May 11, 2024. During the flushing process, hydrant valves are opened to forcefully flush sediment from water mains. This process is necessary to ensure that the municipal water system effectively delivers the highest quality of water possible. In addition to flushing the lines, this process also allows staff the opportunity to inspect hydrants to ensure they are operating properly. During this process, water to homes and businesses may become discolored. The discoloration is caused by the stirring of silt and iron in the system which may result in cloudy, brown, and/or reddish colored water. This process does not affect the safety of the water. If you experience discolored water, you should allow your cold-water faucets to run until the water runs clear. Homeowners should avoid running hot water while experiencing discolored water to avoid filling hot water tanks with discolored water. Water customers should avoid washing clothes with discolored water which can stain clothes. After flushing your water system clear, it is best to run a small wash cycle without clothes, or with dark clothes only. If clothing articles appear stained, keep articles wet and rewash the load using a clothing safe stain/rust remover. We apologize for any inconvenience this process may cause to our customers. If you have any additional questions, please call the Department of Works at (810) 735-7980.

CITY OF LINDEN PRESS RELEASE REGARDING LOOSE SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER Linden, Michigan - January 9, 2024 - The City of Linden is pleased to announce a significant development in its commitment to senior services within the community. Effective January 9, 2024, the city will be taking over the day-to-day operations and management of the Loose Senior Citizens Center. Mayor Danielle Cusson expressed enthusiasm about the city's expanded role, stating, "We are excited to assume a more active role in the Senior Center's daily operations and will ensure that this change does not impact in any way the vital services that the Senior Center has provided Linden-area senior citizens for nearly 30 years." The Loose Senior Citizens Center has been a cornerstone of support for Linden-area seniors since its establishment, thanks to the generosity of Argentine Township residents Grace F. Loose and her brother Fred. The siblings bequeathed $300,000 to the City of Linden for the construction of the senior center, and it has served as a crucial hub for the senior community ever since. Originally supported by an interlocal agreement involving the City of Linden, the City of Fenton, Fenton Township, Argentine Township, and the Southern Lakes Regional Metropolitan Parks and Recreation Commission, the Loose Center has seen a change in its support structure over time. Members of the interlocal agreement gradually withdrew, leaving the City of Linden as the sole remaining member. With this development, the city no longer requires a separate board of directors and can now manage the Senior Center independently. The City of Linden extends its gratitude to the board of directors for their dedicated service to the center and the senior community. The city looks forward to continued cooperation to ensure a smooth transition and maintain the high standard of services provided by the Loose Senior Citizens Center.
